SPECIAL NOTE Anders Pehrson was a designer who transitioned from an engineering degree to become a design manager at Philips in 1952. Acquiring Ateljé Lyktan in 1964, he shaped its future with a focus on form, function, color, and family values. Pehrson's strategy of mass-producing best-selling lamps resulted in a broader global presence. Starting his self-taught design journey at age fifty-two, inspired by his pre-war experience with colorful radio sets, he decided to infuse more vibrant colors into his lamp designs after visiting a Hannover lighting fair and Volkswagen. This move challenged the industry norm of black, white, and grey.
