The installation is dedicated to an important and unpublished collection of furniture from the 1960’s, designed by T.H Robsjohn-Gibbings and edited by Saridis of Athens. Robsjohn-Gibbings (1905-1976), one of United States’ most prominent designers and decorators and Saridis of Athens, one of Europe’s finest cabinet makers, in a partnership that set to leave a mark on 20th century Design History. The exhibition project curated by Antiqua Gallery aims to revive this historical collaboration through a contemporary aesthetic and promote the timeless values of innovativeness and elegance. The collection includes 32 pieces of furniture from an important Athenian, family-owned, company, all in their original state, signed and numbered. The curational display provides a distinctive example of the range and work of this unique partnership and provides an extensive understanding on how the admiration and thorough study of ancient Greek artifacts were incorporated into contemporary design of the era. A rare collection that remind us of the masterwork of two visionaries and underlines the impact of Ancient Greek legacy into Modern Design.
