ANTIQUA, in collaboration with SYLVIA KOUVALI, presents an exhibition dedicated to the work of Cypriot artist Haris Epamindonda. The project unfolds across the two venues of Antiqua - Athens, Irodotou 7 and Antiqua Apt, Irodotou 5 - in parallel with VOL. XXXIII a solo exhibition at Sylvia Kouvali in Piraeus.
At ANTIQUA, Epaminonda’s works engage in an intricate dialogue with a curated selection of historical design pieces, creating a multilayered reflection on memory, form, and architecture. The exhibition inhabits two distinct spaces: At the Gallery space - Irodotou 7, the artist's installations respond to the pre-existing setting Between Modernism and Japanese Resonance - an interior evocation of late 1960’s French architects and their fascination with Oriental aesthetics. At ANTIQUA Apt located in Irodotou 5, a more intimate and domestic space opens to the public for the first time, accessible exclusively through the gallery.
In this newly revealed interior, Epaminonda explores her own role as a collector of books and objects, presenting works that resonate with the domestic rather than the constructed or plein environment she often inhabits. Divided into four thematic rooms, the exhibition stages encounters between Epaminonda’s visual language and iconic 20th century designers such as Carlo Mollino, Ignazio Gardella, Cini Boeri, and BBPR Architets highlighting her enduring search for beauty through the lens of memory and spatial composition.
