In November, Antiqua presents An Exploration of 1970s Living, a curatorial project unfolding across two interconnected installations: at the gallery space and, from 12 to 16 November, at Art Athina.
Inspired by the sophisticated and unconventional domestic interiors of the 1970s, the project explores a moment when the home became an increasingly personal expression of its inhabitant, open to unexpected encounters between furniture, lighting and objects.
At the gallery space, the installation evokes an intimate, eclectic interior, drawing on the rich material palette and relaxed elegance of the 1970s. Dark woods, lacquered surfaces and polished metals are balanced by soft upholstery and generous proportions. Furniture and lighting from different decades come together in a carefully considered composition, where sculptural silhouettes and unexpected details lend character to the room.
Selected works by: Gian Pietro Arosio, Osvaldo Borsani, Marcel Breuer, Emma Schweinberger Gismondi, Max Ingrand, Maison Jansen, Angelo Mangiarotti, Gino Sarfatti, Stilnovo and Velca, alongside a selection of unattributed Italian furniture from the 1970s, distinguished by bold forms and unexpected details.
