SPECIAL NOTE Sabrina Binda is a French-born ceramicist established with her family on the Cycladic island of Tinos, Greece since 2011.From the beginning she has been attracted to modeling the clay rather than throwing, with a preference for stoneware which allows her to create pieces with finesse and resistance at the same time. She likes to play on the ambivalence between the utilitarian side of ceramics and the independence of each element of tableware as a unique piece. Thus, and through her personal research on glaze and enamels, her bowls, plates or vases, lamp shades or more abstract ceramics obtain a status through which they free themselves of the mere utility and access to a life of their own as humble yet refined collectibles.Solid and quiet, her work gets inspiration from very different sources, spanning from her direct Cycladic wild environment to the centuries-old artisanal achievements of ancient and contemporary Japanese craft.
