Stavros Neonakis was a Greek designer and craftsperson known for his influential role in the history of Greek furniture design. In the 1970s he established the workshop and company Stavros Neonakis – Architectural Greek Furniture, where he revived classical Greek forms and proportions in contemporary pieces, often using solid wood and woven leather straps to create finely made chairs, stools, and benches that drew on ancient Greek aesthetics. His “Greek Collection” became well regarded both in Greece and internationally, with some pieces now considered collectible examples of late 20th‑century design. Although the company later faced financial difficulties, Neonakis’s work remains a notable chapter in the narrative of modern Greek furniture design.
