Claudio Salocchi was an Italian architect and industrial designer, recognized for his innovative contributions to postwar Italian design. Educated at the Polytechnic University of Milan, he developed a practice that merged functional research with experimental form, anticipating new ways of living through ergonomic and typological innovation. Salocchi collaborated with leading companies such as Sormani, Skipper, and Lumenform, working across furniture, lighting, and architecture. Among his most iconic projects is the Paione modular sofa, awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1979, which exemplifies his forward-looking approach to modularity and comfort. Although less widely known than some of his contemporaries, Salocchi’s work represents a significant and still under-explored chapter in Italian design culture.
